'Ships At Sea' has a simple piano part that was recorded at my local bar. A friend let me drop by in the afternoon one day, and i setup a mic right by the piano. The ice machine and a/c are crunching away in the background somewhere. And the female harmony is Erica singing in my bathroom. Vive le DIY!
lyrics
Ships at Sea
I waited and watched by the sea
I looked for you, you looked for me
still ships they pass, how can that be?
ships they pass, how can that be?
Out from lights that blinded you
Out among the stars that guided you
It's colder now with one
Than it ever was with two
Before you turn away
There's no shame like regret
Curse this modern day
This life is to....forget.
The single cloud that covered the sun
Ending all that had begun
When you think of it now, what would you have done?
When you think of it now, what would you have done?
Hands that hold precious hearts
Hearts that fold and fall apart
If we knew the end
Would we even start?
Before you turn away
There's no shame like regret
Curse this modern day
This life is to....protect.
I raced you up to the sky
The first to fall was the first to die
I wondered how, I wondered why
I wondered how, and wondered why
Hands that hold precious hearts
Hearts that fold and fall apart
If we knew the end
Would we even start?
Before you turn away
There's no shame like regret
Curse this modern day
This life is to....forget.
